Wylam Brewery, Newcastle Wedding

Amy & Amy at Wylam Brewery, Newcastle. I was so excited for today as this was my first day at Wylam Brewery and because these two are just awesome, I had a lovely time with them at Saltburn for their engagement photoshoot, earlier this year, this is when we actually met for the first time. They knew of me from a friend of theirs who worked at Rockfillc Hall at Hurworth, who used to be a wedding coordinator there and I was recommended by her, (Thanks Ruth)

A bit about the couple

Amy P is the music lover in their house, she likes more indie-type music and Frank Turner is her favourite but she has varied tastes and also loves Taylor Swift! Amy A generally listens to whatever Amy P puts on haha but they do both like Lucy Spraggan and they saw her together at the sage for one of our early dates.

Amy A particularly loves Bake-off and is super happy when it is on. They both like "how I met your mother" and Ru Paul’s drag race. They also did love killing Eve and like any crime series.

They met initially online but met up quite quickly in Newcastle on a sunny back holiday for drinks and quickly realised how quickly time passes when they are chatting and they had to dash to the station for Amy P to get the last train home, it was actually cancelled!

Amy A is a mental health nurse currently working in GP surgeries and Amy P is a marketing manager for a food service company.

They have a cat called Honey who Amy P had before they met and they now have a puppy Cockapoo called Truffle who keeps them very busy but is very cute, I met him on the engagement shoot and yes he is very cute!!

Amy A grew up in Gateshead and has lived in Newcastle since returning from university in Bristol in 2014.

Amy P has a much more confusing home town! She grew up in Middlesbrough until age 8 when she moved to Bristol and then Somerset aged 14. She moved back up to Middlesbrough to go to university and has since lived in Darlington before moving up to Newcastle to live together.

Amy A proposed on a Sunday afternoon after a long lockdown in the house, she created a puzzle/ escape room type game with clues and codes that led to the proposal. It was quite a long wait for the proposal when Amy P took almost an hour to do a jigsaw haha!

Amy P always liked Wylam brewery and thought it would be a good wedding venue, they also had their first new year there. They still had an open mind when they went to visit but the whole feeling of the place felt 100% them, topped off by the fact that the pillars say Anderson’s of Gateshead (Amy As surname and childhood town) it’s seemed meant to be for them.

Did I ask them why me?

One of our bridesmaids who is also a wedding coordinator had been to a wedding you photographed and said how approachable and friendly you were and how lovely your pictures are. With that review and looking at your pictures we knew we would be good for our wedding.

The Wedding Day

I arrived early as always and especially as it was my first time here at Wylam Brewery. So now I know where it is and I have my bearings it was time to go see the girls who were only a 10-minute drive from the venue. I met them both in the same room for the bridal preparations, they were pretty much together for most of the morning apart from getting in their dresses which were going to be a surprise to each other. It was a lovely morning surrounded by friends and family with a tiny baby too!

The ceremony was beautiful and I loved catching the moments just before and during, it helps that I have worked before with Starkfilm Weddings (last year at Sneaton Castle) so it was great to work with them again and we worked well with each other and the brothers are great as well. After the ceremony, we had confetti to throw followed by a big group shot before they all enjoyed some drinks and canapes. This led to some portrait photos and at Wylam Brewery they allow the couple have photos taken in the brewery itself where all the magic happens, it was empty of course, but we had great photos in front of the equipment.

Speeches came and they were heartfelt and funny as well as beautiful, but shortly after they showed their fun and party side with a surprise from the singing waiters who were simply amazing, I had a great time and I was working!

The Evening of the wedding didn't disappoint either with live music from an amazing band and that fact they all just wanted to party so the dance floor was just none stop, the way I like it.

Some of their amazing suppliers are:

Cake: Cakes by Mamma

Flowers: Homemade/Etsy

I asked them, could you give 1 or more advice/tips for others that are planning their wedding?

Stop watching Netflix in the evening and do some doing, we're not very good at this one!

Ok time for the pictures here is a little highlight from their wedding. ( some 200pictures, I struggled to narrow down which to use out of the 1000 plus they had received)
