Thirsk Lodge Barns

Thirsk Lodge Barns sits in open countryside just outside Thirsk, and it's quickly become one of my favourite North Yorkshire venues. It has that laid back, rustic feel with just the right touch of elegance, and every corner is made for photos.

The Main Barn

Ceremonies take place in the big red brick barn, with high ceilings, wooden beams and a wall of fairy lights behind you. Later it becomes the dance floor, and the mezzanine is perfect for a group photo of all your guests.

Getting Ready

Brides often get ready in the cottages on site, which have soft, natural light that's lovely for those quiet moments with family and bridesmaids before the ceremony.

Golden Hour in the Fields

When the light is right, we'll step out into the fields for a few golden hour photos with the North Yorkshire hills behind you. Relaxed and natural, with me guiding you into real moments rather than stiff poses.

The Courtyard

After the ceremony we usually head to the courtyard for confetti. With its old olive tree and relaxed, Mediterranean feel, it's a lovely spot for drinks, family photos and the fire pits later in the evening.

My Favourite Spots at Thirsk Lodge Barns

I've photographed several weddings at Thirsk Lodge Barns over the last couple of years, and these are the spots I always come back to.

The chapel

The chapel is one of my favourite places for photos here, rain or shine. On a wet day it's also a brilliant spot for your family photos, so nobody has to stand out in the rain.

The field and the bank

Outside, I love the field, and the bank to the side is my favourite spot of all for a sunset shot. If the light is looking good, I'll aim to take you out there for a few minutes together.

The garden at the front of the house

The garden at the front of the house is lovely for something a bit different from the barns, with a softer, more natural feel.

If it rains

The chapel has you covered for couple photos and family photos alike, so a rainy day here is nothing to worry about.

In order to capture both natural and amusing moments as well as the planned photos that assist tell the story of your wedding day, my photography technique mixes traditional and photojournalistic aspects. I always approach every wedding professionally, yet in a fun and approachable way. I believe that accomplishing this helps everyone appear as relaxed and at ease in front of the camera as possible. 

EXPERIENCE

Because I have a lot of experience and have photographed over 250 weddings, I am able to think quickly and adapt to any situation. I am aware that things don't always go according to plan, but please don't let this worry you, I can quickly adapt.

How much are your wedding photography packages?

My full day packages start from £1,795, and half day packages start from £1,195. I do provide a personalised quote if you need just ask.

Do you do half-a-day packages?

Yes, my half day package covers up to 4 hours, but I'm happy to chat if you need less, just ask.

How much is your booking fee?

My booking fee is £300 which secures your wedding date.

Are travel expenses included?

Yes. Travel anywhere in North Yorkshire is included in all my wedding packages.

When is the final payment due?

The final payment is 30 days before your wedding day.

Are you insured as a professional photographer?

I have £5M in public liability insurance and professional insurance.
