A Laid-Back Howard Court Wedding with Ellis & Andrew

Ellis and Andrew’s day at Howard Court on my doorstep at the beatuful North Yorkshire was exactly what a wedding should be—laid-back, personal, and full of laughter. No fuss, no formalities, just a bunch of lovely people having a brilliant time together.

These two aren’t ones for the spotlight—especially not in front of a camera—which made my job perfect. They wanted a relaxed, documentary approach and trusted me to just get on with it while they enjoyed their day. And that’s exactly what we did.

The Start of the Day – A First Look with Dad

There was no bridal prep coverage, but we did capture a lovely quiet moment with Ellis and her dad before the ceremony. A first look that was full of smiles, a few nerves, and a lot of pride on his face. Simple, honest moments—just how I like it.

A Sunny (and Cloudy) Kind of Day

The weather played ball too. That perfect British mix of sunny spells and dramatic cloud cover. No golden-hour sunset, but the light all day was just lovely—soft, flattering, and ideal for natural, unposed photos around the grounds at Howard Court.

Ellis wore a veil for the first half of the day, which gave us some lovely movement in the photos. After there pictures of the two of them, it was off, and she could really relax into the party.

Netball Crew Vibes & Nearly a Pyramid

One of the absolute highlights was grabbing a few fun shots with Ellis’s netball team. Some were pregnant, a couple carrying injuries, but we still managed a mini pyramid – a proper team effort and a cracking photo to look back on. These are the moments that make a wedding gallery feel truly personal.

A Thank You, Not a Speech

There weren’t any formal speeches – which felt very ‘them’. Just a few heartfelt thank yous from Ellis’s dad, enough to bring a few smiles (and maybe a tear or two) without turning it into a big performance. No spotlight, just warmth and appreciation.

Dancing Outside, Live Music & A Guitar Hero Moment

Their first dance was outdoors under a beautiful sky, surrounded by friends and family, with live music from the excellent The Fallen. Big shoutout to those guys—tight set, great energy, and they kept the dancefloor going.

And then came a very cool twist—Ellis was handed the guitar mid-set. She absolutely owned it. It was one of those moments where everyone stopped, cheered, and you could just tell: this was her day, her way.

A Proper North Yorkshire Party

Howard Court was the perfect backdrop for the whole thing—rustic, welcoming, and not too polished. Just real. A great mix of indoor and outdoor space, and it never felt too formal or forced. It suited them down to the ground.

Ellis & Andrew – Thanks for Having Me

To Ellis and Andrew—thank you for letting me quietly capture it all. You created a day that was unmistakably yours. No pressure, no expectations, just good people, good music, and a cracking time.
