Doxford Hall Wedding Photographer

Michale & Kate | Doxford Hall | Northumberland | 23rd July

So I asked them a few Questions...

Q-How did COVID affect your wedding?

Obviously the plan to get married last July went up in smokes, despite Michael insisting COVID would blow over before last Easter. We had to rearrange the whole event to this year and we were just thankful we were able to move all our vendors in 24 hours, we even secured our amazing photographer despite him proving popular in the Summer of 2021. (Honestly, I thought the whole thing would only last a few weeks )

How did you meet?

We met at an anti-Valentines day house party. Kate says I saved her from a guy with a weird tooth. And he has been my hero ever since!

Where are you originally from
?

Kate grew up in Gateshead, Michale, I was born and raised in a little hamlet called Daddy Shield in Weardale… very few people I have met since moving here know where this is.

When, how, who and where did the question get popped?

Michael popped the question on 3rd September in 2018 at my most favourite place Disneyworld Florida. We went to watch the morning parade first thing in the morning, and we were right in front of Cinderella’s Castle. I turned around to find Michael down on one knee ring in hand. Best. Day. Ever!!

Michale: To be honest she didn’t even answer, she just cried (happy tears).

Why did you choose the Venue over all overs
?

We looked at loads of venues before picking finally picking our venue. We realised after a little while every place we viewed we always compared back to Doxford Hall. That’s when we knew it was the place we wanted to get married.

Why did you choose me as your photographer?

Much like venues, we checked out a few photographers but as soon as we met you we stopped, we found the right man for the job. As rubbish as we were describing what we wanted, you knew exactly what it was we were after. Not to mention you have good banter, are always friendly and put us at ease. You can tell how passionate you are about your craft, you can sense the pride you and in your work and you are such a lovely bloke. Once you showed us your dual camera holsters and told us your ritual of backing up all your shots after an event I was sold!

Could you give 1 or more advice/tips for other brides and grooms on the planning?

Kate: As hard as it might sound, just don’t let the process stress you out as it can take away the joy of the experience. Trust that it will call come together eventually.

Michale: Everything seems like it must happen immediately, but it doesn’t. Take your time, and think about the vendors you want to be part of your day. Remember, this is your day and the people who will be celebrating with you know and love you and will have a great time regardless of how you plan the day.

"Wow Nick, simply Wow!

We have looked at all of the photos in our album and they are wonderful, outstanding, superb, and gorgeous (we could go on and on). You have captured everyone so wonderfully. We look great, our guests look great, the venue looks great.
Even more than how they look you have captured so much of the day that one of us or both of us missed. We spent hours looking at the photos and then reliving those moments with each other talking about what was going on, how we were feeling and funny little stories about the images. We hope that our guests get the same sense of being there in the moment when they view them.

Finally, we are still very much interested in getting a printed album put together. Appreciating that you will be in the middle of silly wedding season right now is this something we could pick up when you are less busy?

Thanks again so very much!
Michael & Kate"

FAQ

IS 5 HOURS ENOUGH TIME FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

For an elopement 5 hours is great, otherwise, 5 hours of a wedding day is half a day's coverage. For full-day coverage, a minimum of 10 hours would be needed

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU HAVE/USE?

I have just about 2 of everything just in case, A Canon R6 Mii, Canon 5D IV (DSLR, full-frame sensor x3), off-camera flashes x3, and an endless amount of batteries to keep me going a full day, light stands and the list does go on but those are the most important ones.

HOW MANY PHOTOS CAN I EXPECT?

This, depends on a few factors, first of all, how many hours you would like me to cover for your wedding and also how many guests and details do you have? For 6-hour coverage, you can expect 300-600 photos, for 7-hour coverage 400-700 and for 10 hours 600-1000

WHEN AND HOW DO WE BOOK?

As soon as you have the date for your wedding to avoid losing out to someone else, you should think about booking me sooner rather than later, to make sure your date is available. Once you pay your deposit (£300) the date is yours. I sometimes get booked up to 2 years in advance. Your deposit also secures the current prices which may increase later.
