The reception is where the pressure drops and the fun really starts.

The formal bits are done, the drinks are flowing, and everyone can finally relax and be themselves. This is the part of the day where things get loud, messy, emotional and unforgettable, often all at the same time.

Big hugs.

Bad dance moves.

Friends who have not seen each other in years.

Laughter that takes over the whole room.

Nothing forced. Nothing posed. Just people celebrating you in the way they know best.


How I photograph the reception

I shoot the reception in a very natural, documentary way. I am right in the middle of it, moving with the energy and capturing things as they happen.

No stopping the fun. No pulling people aside. No awkward interruptions.

If someone is mid story, mid laugh or mid dance move, that is exactly where I want to be.
