A Wedding at The Croft Hotel for Jonathan and Abi
The Croft Hotel is one of those venues that feels warm and welcoming as soon as you step inside. It is a beautiful setting for a wedding and even though the rain came down for most of Jonathan and Abi’s day, the venue still gave us everything we needed for a relaxed and meaningful celebration.
I have a lovely connection with this family because I photographed Jonathan’s sisters wedding a few years ago. When they got back in touch it was amazing that they choose me from seeing me work in advance, it was great to see so many of them again. Having that trust already there made the whole day feel even more natural.
A Rainy Day at The Croft Hotel
Some weddings are full of sunshine and golden hour portraits but others give you that cosy, atmospheric feeling and this was one of those days. The Croft Hotel is brilliant for indoor weddings because the building has character and plenty of space to work with. We stayed inside for most of the day and it could not have worked out any better.
They were both so laid back and happy to enjoy the day as it came and that always makes a big difference. Rain never stops me from capturing beautiful moments, it just changes the way I may approach the day.
Ceremony and Family Moments
Their ceremony was filled with emotion and genuine smiles and being able to capture that in such a classic setting was a joy. Since I had photographed the family before, many of them already knew me, so everyone felt comfortable from the start. This always helps with family photos because there is a natural flow and people are happy to be involved.
We kept the group photos simple and relaxed which is always the best approach on a rainy day. The Croft Hotel has some great indoor areas that work perfectly for this and the whole family made it very easy.
A Relaxed Celebration
Even without stepping outside much, their gallery is full of variety because The Croft Hotel gives you so many textures and tones to work with. The rain added its own cosy charm to the day and kept everyone close together which created even more candid moments.
Being asked to photograph another wedding within the same family is one of the biggest compliments I can receive. Jonathan and Abi were brilliant to work with and their guests made everything feel effortless from start to finish. The Croft Hotel was the perfect backdrop and the rain could not take away from the happiness in the room.
I cannot wait to return to The Croft Hotel again to capture more stories just like this.
