Blackwell Grange Wedding Photographer

Welcome to my wedding gallery from Blackwell Grange a wedding I did hear in Darlington, I'm Nick and I am a Blackwell Grange wedding photographer, covering all of the Darlington and County Durham area and much further too.

Sarah & Jamie

Let me start by saying a huge congratulations to Jamie and Sarah. They, like so many others, had been affected by Covid-19. Their original wedding was supposed to take place on the 30th of May 2020. They rearranged to August and like most of us thought things would be back to normal to carry on. As August was drawing closer we all worked it out very quickly that normal wasn’t going to return anytime soon. So, they made the tough decision to get married with the new guidelines on their new wedding date.

Pre Wedding Shoot

We went to Saltburn-by the Sea for the engagement shoot. The weather really wanted to make itself known that day! We had rain, blue skies, sun and clouds, but most of all we had great fun creating some amazing photos and even their very own GIF. This is something extra I have just started to offer to everyone, these are great fun to do and they look amazing too.

The Wedding

Jamie & Sarah were getting married at St.Teresa's RC church, Harris Street in Darlington and then they were off to the beautiful Blackwell Grange.

Bridal Prep

I was due to start 30 minutes before the wedding ceremony and with me itching to do what I love to do, I decided to offer Sarah bridal preparation coverage, after all, this was my second wedding since lockdown and only my fifth wedding of 2020, so I was just wanting to photograph as much as I could.

I met Sarah at The Beauty Bar and she was looking stunning. Her hair was getting the final touches, as you can imagine a lot of time and thought had gone into every detail and you really could tell.

Just around the corner we then went to her sister's house where the rest of the bridal preparation was being done. I love taking detailed shots of bridal preparation, and as well as this it’s always great to capture the fun that can be had between the girls.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was emotional and fun too. As this was the first wedding for pretty much everyone with the new restrictions no one really knew what to do, whether they were supposed to sing the hymns or not or just very quietly, watching the bridesmaid look at each other with that what do we do expression. There is always one and one it only took today to bring on a smile and laughter to the ceremony when it was needed.

The Blackwell Grange

I love coming back to Blackwell Grange it is a beautiful wedding venue all year round, and the staff are always great, what more could you ask for?

The sun was out all day so everyone was sitting outside and just doing what you should be doing at a wedding... having lots of fun! This gave me some great candid moments to capture. I even had a little shadow called Maisie at this point, she was Jamie & Sarah's flower girls and she will be my competition in 15 years, as she was snapping away and posing at people and you could tell she was paying attention to what I was doing, it was just brilliant!

You can’t have a wedding at Blackwell Grange and not take a photo of their staircase and chandelier, it's a must and today was no different. After taking some stunning photos here we headed out for some lovely photos down the long drive and we even got the bridesmaid and groomsmen in too for great group shots. The day was finishing up and before we gathered everyone for a sparkler shot. Sarah, her dad and one of her bridesmaids just started to dance to the music they had in the background, some real classic tunes and we all just loved it they got right into it too and were great to capture.

After the wedding day, I had been emailing Jamie and Sarah back and forth to check in and to keep them up to date with everything and asked them a few questions...

QuestionWhat are the highlights of your wedding day?

"Some of the highlights include the journey in the wedding car to the hotel and seeing our friends & family waiting for us as we came down the driveway. Also, we loved having our photoshoot, especially on the famous Blackwell Grange staircase and being excited to see the final images afterwards. Finally, seeing each other all dressed up for the first time as Sarah entered the church was incredible, we both thought each other looked amazing!"

Question- What if any hints or tips would you have for any couples who are planning their wedding day?

"As for hints and tips, we'd say a) don't stress about timings, ours went completely off schedule and was fine! b) don't be afraid to ask the venue about the COVID restrictions, you may find innovative ways to adapt c) plan and test any equipment you are going to use (e.g speakers etc) beforehand and get them set up before the actual day d) forget all the everyday stresses, embrace every moment and enjoy the day, as it goes so quickly! "

Thanks once again for having me Jamie & Sarah, congratulations and all the best for the future.
