Family Photos

A series of wedding party photos taken outside a rustic brick farmhouse with white trim windows.

Family group photos. Quick, relaxed and painless.

Family group photos matter, but they do not need to take over your day.

This part is all about getting those important photos done quickly, keeping everyone happy and getting you back to your drinks as soon as possible.

No long waits. No shouting. No awkward posing.

What family group photos are really about

These photos are for you and for the people who mean the most, let do immediate family so we can do it in 10/15 minutes

Parents.

Grandparents.

Siblings.

The people who helped get you here.

They are simple, timeless images that you will be very glad you have, even if they are not the most exciting part of the day in the moment.

How I keep it relaxed

I take control so you do not have to. I work from a list that we agree beforehand, keeping things organised and moving smoothly. I guide people into place, keep it light and make sure nobody is hanging around longer than needed. A bit of humour helps. So does efficiency.

Keeping it natural

I keep the posing simple and natural. Nothing stiff or overly formal. Everyone standing comfortably, close together, looking like themselves. A quick smile, a natural interaction and then we move straight on. If someone makes a joke or a moment happens in between, even better. Those little in between moments often become favourites.

When and where works best

Family photos usually work best just after the ceremony when everyone is already together.

Ask family members not to disappear until this is done (dont check in just yet)

Good light and a simple backdrop make a big difference, and I always choose a spot that works visually without pulling people too far away from the action.

If the weather does its thing, I adapt quickly and keep everything moving indoors instead.

Why these photos still matter

These images might feel like a small part of the day, but they grow in importance over time. They show generations together. People who travelled to be there. Faces that change as the years pass. That is why I treat family group photos with care, respect and a calm approach, making sure they feel easy on the day and meaningful long after it is over.
