Wedding Photographer Nick Georgiou, Why I Invest In Courses (ME)
Yes, I invest in courses or should I say me all the time a few times a year if possible if not more. I am a strong believer that you never stop learning things, there are things that are changing all the time and getting better so I want to learn them. I look into new skills all the time that can help me or learn about new equipment and tech that can help me photograph a wedding better and easier to give couples the best experience I possibly can. Sometimes the best thing is software to help with all the admin side of things. Whatever it is I am looking for things I haven't thought I needed and I only know about from stumbled across them accidentally via a podcast or YouTube.
I learn in all sorts of ways, talking to other wedding photographers, so many great podcasts and not all from photographers this goes for youtube too.
The big one is courses or photography workshops which are not cheap but very important and unfortunately not always local or is that fortunately as this is an opportunity to travel which I love. The courses I choose are mainly designed for wedding photographers which means other photographers will attend and I get to meet other creative people like myself, this is also an opportunity to learn from each other, nice to make new friends too, as this job can get lonely if you don't get out there and Network!
Courses can vary some might be dedicated to OCF (Off Camera Flash) which is very important, in certain situations, especially during the winter wedding season.
Other courses could be posing, editing, or simply the best way to run your business efficiently.
One more, this is more and more important and that is anything to do with advertising, website and SEO, now I could outsource this however I work on my own so I try to keep my cost down otherwise I have to increase my prices which I try not to, I try to offer great service and amazing photos but try to keep my cost down to give wedding couples a fantastic package and an amazing price point without worrying about the quality.
