Your Wedding Day – A Breakdown of What to Expect

Your wedding day is going to be one of the most exciting, emotional, and unforgettable days of your life. But with so much happening, it can feel like a whirlwind! To help you feel prepared and soak up every moment, here’s a breakdown of how the day usually happens.

1. The Morning – Getting Ready

The excitement starts early! Whether you’re at home, in a hotel, or at your venue, the morning is all about getting ready, sharing laughs, and feeling the buzz of what’s to come. You will find the day. starts slow.

  • Expect a mix of nerves and excitement—totally normal!
  • Hair and makeup artists will work their magic while you sip on a glass of bubbly.
  • Your photographer (that’s me!) will capture all the little moments—your dress, the details, the emotional reactions.
  • Grooms and their squad usually have a more chilled-out morning—maybe a round of golf, a quick beer, or a final suit check.

Top Tip: Give yourself plenty of time to get ready so you can relax and enjoy the build-up without feeling rushed.

2. The Ceremony – The Big Moment

This is it—the moment you’ve been waiting for! Whether it’s in a grand church, a rustic barn, or a beautiful outdoor setting, your ceremony is where it all begins. Tjhis is when the day starts to go quick so don't blink!

  • Walking down the aisle? Take a deep breath, soak it all in, and enjoy every step.
  • Head up and walk slow!
  • Expect happy tears, big smiles, and maybe a few laughs during the vows.
  • Your photographer will capture every emotion—those nervous glances, the proud parents, and of course, the first kiss as a married couple.

Top Tip: Pause for a moment before walking in, take a deep breath, and lock eyes with your partner—it’s a memory you’ll cherish forever.

3. The Drinks Reception – Time to Celebrate!

The “we did it!” moment kicks in, and now it’s time to celebrate with your guests.

  • This is a great time for candid, relaxed photos of guests mingling, laughing, and enjoying the atmosphere.
  • Expect hugs, drinks, and plenty of congratulations.
  • If we’re doing group photos, I’ll help organize them quickly so you can get back to celebrating!

Top Tip: Have a little time just for the two of you—step away from the crowd for a moment and soak up the fact that you’re now married!

4. Couple Portraits – Just the Two of You

At some point during the drinks reception, we’ll sneak away for some gorgeous couple portraits.

  • No stiff posing—just natural, fun, and beautiful moments of you both enjoying each other.
  • Whether it’s golden hour magic or a quick stroll through the venue, these shots will be some of your favourites.
  • It’s also a great time to breathe, step back, and just take in the day together.

Top Tip: Trust me to guide you through this—no need to worry about what to do, just enjoy the moment, and the time of just you both being together with no one else.

5. The Wedding Breakfast – Food, Speeches & Laughter

Time to sit down, eat, and enjoy the heartfelt (and sometimes hilarious) speeches!

  • The wedding breakfast isn’t actually breakfast—it’s just the first meal as a married couple.
  • Expect laughter, maybe a few happy tears, and some brilliant storytelling.
  • I’ll be capturing the reactions, from belly laughs to emotional moments.

Top Tip: Have your speeches before the meal. If you’re nervous about speeches, keep them short and sweet—you don’t need a 10-minute monologue to make an impact!

6. The Evening Reception – Let’s Party!

Now it’s time to hit the dancefloor and celebrate in style!

  • The first dance is always a special moment—whether it’s choreographed or a simple sway, it’s all about you two.
  • Once the party starts, I’ll be there capturing the energy, the dodgy dance moves, and the incredible atmosphere.
  • Sparklers, fireworks, or a surprise performance? Let’s capture it all!

Top Tip: If you want amazing dancefloor photos, make sure the DJ or band keeps the energy up—and get everyone involved! If you stay on the dance floor so will your gust. Aslo glow sticks are great and help those not so confidet on the dance floor as they have now something to play with!
